How can you as an Afghan Citizen fulfill your moral duties and help the current situation in our homeland?
We clearly see every day what is happening in Afghanistan. Unlike the past, many people have access to Social Media, TV, News Papers and many other sources of information to educate themselves about what is going on in our homeland on day to day bases. We are all stressed and maybe even frightened a little bit. Which is why we might not know or fully understand what should we do? How can we help? Well, it is not that difficult. We hope this article will help you calm down and realize your duties and how to fulfill them.
First of all, it is very important that you educate yourself well about the situation. Observe and don’t believe everything you see in the media on Afghanistan, International Media and especially Social Media. Stop assuming that Taliban will win or even worse than that, take over the entire country. Yes, Taliban did rule Afghanistan for some time in the past, but let’s not forget that at that time, we did not have a stabilized government, we did not have a well-equipped army, we did not have access to media or any kind of information and more importantly, we did not have freedom of speech and we could not raise our voices. WE HAVE THAT NOW! And a greater power we have now is our experience living under the rule of Taliban. Do we want that now? Of course NOT! Will we surrender again? Of course not. Will we fight back with everything we have in our power to stop these savage’s violence? Of course YES!
Now getting to the main topic and to make it very simple to understand, here are some points we should seriously and crucially take into consideration and start acting right now:
1-Share the positive news on your Social Media Accounts for example when a district or province is re-taken from the Taliban by our ANDSF heroes.
2-Support your Army, like when in Bamiyan women gathered and cooked food for them. Put their logos in your profile pictures; give them letters and gifts to motivate them and to appreciate their efforts for peacekeeping in our motherland. When you see them in the street, thank them and let them know that you are praying for them and that they are in your thoughts. Tell them you are counting on them!
3-Don’t spread fake news! When people were chanting Allah-u Akbar in Herat, some people shared that “saying Taliban took over the province” while in reality it was the local Herati’s chanting and letting the enemy know that they will not surrender.
4-Don’t spread posts that might cause ethnic tension. For example, in many places on social media we see that there are quotes saying “Taliban mainly target Hazaras”. We know that is not true because we know what has been going on in provinces where a majority is Pashtun like in Kandahar, Helmand and many other provinces. Note that posts like this are only making us more divided and when we are divided the enemy can achieve their evil goals. Know that Taliban are the enemy of ALL Afghans without considering their ethnic background. We can see clear examples of that in many videos on social media.
5-Unite and spread unity. We are all brothers and sisters and this is our country. We know in our hearts and in our souls that we will not give in. So, let’s unite and give an end to this bloody war. If we have defeated the Soviet Union, The British Empire and many others, Taliban is nothing comparing to them, we can defeat them and we will defeat them.
6-Pray! We are all Muslims and we all believe in Allah. Let’s pray for a long lasting and sustainable peace in our country. Remember, with praying you will not only come closer to Allah but it will calm you down and maybe all of our prayers will be accepted.
7-Our army is bigger than the Taliban. Together, the Afghan forces and the public upraising across the country can outnumber the Taliban. According to a former intelligence chief, the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have between 300,000 and 350,000 fighters and the militias a total of 120,000. The Taliban, he said, are seasonal fighters with additional support from Pakistan and other regional extremist groups and have between 100,000 and 120,000 active fighters.
8-Read these points again and make sure you remember them and act upon them, starting this moment. Share this with everyone that you know.
